Participants will present new results from their studies of soil change concentrating on basic and applied biological and geochemical processes forcing such change. Workshop objectives are to improve concepts and quantification of soil-ecosystem change especially on time-scales of decades, review inventories of long-term soil experiments (now >250 LTSEs at http://ltse.env.duke.edu), consider how to better network and make use of LTSEs to evaluate critical biological and geochemical issues that need resolution to better address the many issues associated with global soil change.
