Long-Term Soil Ecosystem Studies

La Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (RMCG) es una publicación compartida entre el Instituto de Geología, el Centro de Geociencias y la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), así como la Sociedad Geológica Mexicana, el Instituto Nacional de Geoquímica (INAGEQ) y la Sociedad Mexicana de Paleontología. La RMCG publica artículos de investigación originales en todas las disciplinas de las Ciencias de la Tierra, con énfasis en trabajos de Iberoamérica.

At Earth’s surface, a complex suite of chemical, biological, and physical processes combines to produce soil from bedrock and sediments within the zone that extends from the outer limits of vegetation to the lower limits of groundwater. This weathering engine transforms primary minerals, provides nutrients to nourish ecosystems and human society, mediates the transport of toxic components within the biosphere, creates water flow paths that shape and weaken bedrock, and contributes to the evolution of landscapes at all temporal and spatial scales. At the longest time scales, the weathering engine sequesters CO2, thereby influencing the global carbon cycle, long-term climate change, and weathering rates.

The mission of WOSSAC, the World Soil Surveys Archive and Catalogue is to provide a secure home for soil survey reports and maps produced by British companies and surveyors overseas in the last 80 years in 250 countries, with a view to ensuring their enduring availability and protection.
